Today was a long drive from Cape Town down around the tip of Africa—The Cape of Good Hope. If you’ve ever driven the northern California coast, the drive around the Cape is very similar—wild, scenic, and stunningly beautiful.
We walked to the top of Cape Lookout and could see the South Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Indian Ocean on the other. Baboons sat along the trail, not bothered by the pedestrian traffic in the least. We stopped to see a colony of African Penguins.
They are making a comeback now that they have a protected status. And you can pretty much train a wild seal to do anything, including taking fish from your mouth. And if tourists will give you a dollar for the trick, all the better.
